Kibbutz Ein Harod has begun producing a sticker invented by a team from the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology that adheres to regular surgical masks and increases their efficacy in protecting the wearer from coronavirus.
The Maya anti-viral protective sticker was developed under the leadership of Professor Eyal Zussman of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, with clinical guidance from Professor Samer Srouji, head of the Maxillofacial Surgery Dept. at Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

The small size of the novel coronavirus (130 nanometers) allows it to penetrate standard protective masks. But the Maya sticker features nanoscale pores that neutralize trapped viruses in seconds.
The sticker has been approved by the Health Ministry's Medical Equipment Division and approval from US (FDA) and European (CE) authorities are expected soon.
